Deb Bryant

  • Deborah has earned an international reputation for expertise in the adoption and use of open source software and open development models in the public sector through her work in private and public industry and academia. Her consulting firm Deb Bryant & Associates provides strategic guidance to public and private enterprise in the US and abroad on their approach to open source, governance and community engagement.

    During her previous role as Public Sector Communities Manager at Oregon State University’s Open Source Lab “(OSU OSL)”,  Deborah founded and served as program chair for the annual Government Open Source Conference (GOSCON).  Deborah’s government background includes consultation to the State of Oregon’s Legislature followed by public service in the Executive Branch where she was appointed to the role of Deputy State Chief Information Officer.

    Prior to entering the public sector, Deborah held management positions in emerging technology; parallel and high-speed computing and commercialized internet and web applications in the 1980s, commercial wide area networks; advanced telecommunications and data/voice convergence in the 1990s.
